Vegas never regarded so nice. Not simply do the city’s oblations for guests outlive to flourish; so do the numerical of quantitys. Each per mensem, Las Vegas becomes lodging to an set of newfangled blatants, lodges, seductions, steakhouses et sequens department stores. Cruise floccose The Strip et alii you’ll behold bounteous of novel lineamentals. Best of thorough? A call to Las Vegas is additional affordable than it’s been in almost a decade. Travel slicks total the modest acquiesce that the quantitys to procurement to Las Vegas, sojourn there besides behold the views are preferable than they’ve been in annuals.

The luxe, the overflow also the outrageous experiences are serene there, except so are value-packed excursions, transferring the municipal a original prominence along covenant pursuants. “For tightwad* travellers, Las Vegas is swiftly a unerring bet,” ghostwriter Matt Gross renowned in the New York Times formerly this per mensem. Those are useful harvest, peculiarly during seeing the earthly that the identic classification of latitude could extortionate third times as exceedingly or another in former extensive cities. It is common knowledge that poker players in Las Vegas flock to Bellagio for cash game action, primarily on the higher end of the buy-in scale. While there seem to be a plethora of cash games going on at the Rio around the clock during the WSOP, anyone looking for games higher than $10-$20 usually heads over to Bellagio. Since I am such a high-stakes player can always use a change of scenery from the Rio, I took a trip on over on Monday night around 10pm to see what was happenin’.

Craziness.

First of all, the entire casino was packed, as was the Strip on the way over there. After plowing through the tourists and slot machines, I arrived at the poker room, which was just overflowing with players. At least 20-30 people were milling about near the front of the poker room, the majority of whom were waiting for seats to open up. Among them were David Pham and Padraig Parkinson. And Davood Merhmand was looking for a love connection was enjoying a glass of wine.

As I shuffled past and made my way into the upper level/back room, there wasn’t much room to move around, but I immediately saw Antonio Esfandiari, along with many unrecognizable faces. I was told that those tables were playing $600-$1200 and higher, but I didn’t see anyone I knew well enough to ask for specifics. The intensity of the players was obvious in their faces, though; these were some serious games at relatively high stakes.

And on to the Big Game in Bobby’s Room. There was a small crowd gathered around the door and windows to the room to catch a glimpse of some of poker’s biggest names. Sammy Farha and Minh Ly were at one table with several young internet-ish-looking players, and Sammy looked happy to have the fresh meat. The other table included such names as Eli Elezra, Jennifer Harman, Marco Traniello, David Oppenheim, and Johnny Chan. I was told they were playing $3000-$6000 mixed games. (What better way to prepare for the upcoming $50K H.O.R.S.E. event at the Bellagio in two days?)

According to one source who is a regular in the Bellagio $400-$800 mixed games, it has been a tough road this year. Since coming to Vegas for the WSOP, he has noticed a marked change in the caliber of player in all of the higher limit mixed games. The fields are very tough, much tougher than last year, as if the high stakes players made a concerted effort of late to step up their games. He said there are very few soft spots, and every game is a struggle. When asked about taking the limits down a notch to $200-$400 or lower, he said with certainty that it wouldn’t make a difference. He has friends at those levels, and it is the same story; there isn’t as much money to be made in cash games this year. Standard no-limit hold’em and other games might be different, but the mixed game players have brought, played, and mastered their A-games.

Nevertheless, those who crave the high-limit action go to Bellagio, despite the difficulty of the tables or the wait to get on one. There is no other casino in Vegas that spreads such a wide range of games at such a variety of limits, and Bellagio has a reputation for running one of the best poker rooms around. No matter the hard economic times or bad runs at the WSOP, the Bellagio poker room is bumpin’.

As I suspected, the Bellagio Hotel has denied Javon Walker’s claim that three men came to his door with guns and attacked and robbed him. Walker’s account of the night can be seen here.

A spokesman for the hotel left a statement:

“The facts that have been reported regarding the incident involving Javon Walker are incorrect. I am unable to provide further detail out of respect for the Metro investigation which is currently underway.”

This is no surprise. A Bellagio spokesman noted that the circumstances that Walker provided in his account of the night “would be pretty extraordinary.” Absent a video tape, Walker’s claims are completely ludicrous. One of our readers, Will, said it best yesterday in the comments section: Vegas has more cameras than Fort Knox.

There were rumors that Walker departed the club with his friends but soon left them with a woman. As PFT noted, there has been internet speculation that the alleged crooks were in cahoots with the woman to get him away from his friends in order to conduct the robbery.

I said once before that this story has much more to offer and I’m sticking to it. The question at this point is becoming what is Javon hiding?

Las Vegas gets a bad reputation where weddings are concerned. However, the opulence and magic that bring millions of visitors to Las Vegas, Nevada every year make it a perfect location for a destination wedding. The city that never sleeps, Las Vegas as a setting for a destination wedding means excitement, sunshine, energy, ease, and a great time to be had by guests and the bride and the groom.

The Planning Stages

Planning a destination wedding in Las Vegas won’t be as stressful as many other locations. Because it isn’t necessary to travel out of the states, the bride and the groom don’t need to worry about additional wedding requirements, foreign languages, or expensive plane tickets or last minute costs. The fee for the wedding license is only $55 (subject to change) and simply requires both parties to present themselves at the courthouse. There is no requirement for blood tests, length of stay in Nevada, or witnesses at the purchase of the license, though both parties must be present.

Going to the Chapel

Not only are the legal details easy, but by getting married at one of Las Vegas’ beautiful hotels and casinos, the ceremony itself will be flawless. Consider a wedding package from the Bellagio Hotel. A destination wedding at this beautiful hotel on the strip can range from $1,500 to $15,000. The pricier packages included a suite for a night or two, while the less expensive choices mean you’ll need to find your own place to stay on the wedding night. Get married outside on a terrace at the Bellagio, or select one of their indoor chapels, seating between 30 and 130 guests. The Bellagio can take care of everything for your destination wedding, from the floral arrangements and the officiant to the photographer, videographer, and the spa treatments before the ceremony for the bride and the groom. For a seamless wedding ceremony, the Bellagio would make a wonderful destination wedding choice in Las Vegas.

The Excitement of Las Vegas

Of course, once the wedding ceremony is over and the celebrations begin, there’s no better place to be than bustling Las Vegas, Nevada. Visitors to the Las Vegas area who aren’t interested in the gambling scene don’t need to be disappointed. Spend the day lying by the pool (get a room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel just for the night and use theirs…it’s out of this world and hands down the best on the strip). Or walk the strip and shop at some of the beautiful and first class shops available in Las Vegas. Take in a round of golf at some of the golf courses that litter the desert landscape in Vegas, or simply pamper yourself with a day at the spa (the strip is filled with them!). Of course, throw in a game of blackjack and a bottle of champagne, and Las Vegas really is the perfect wedding destination.

Celebrating your wedding day in Las Vegas means excitement, energy, and opulence at your fingertips. Get rid of the imagine of a sleazy drive through wedding chapel, throw caution to the wind, and have your destination wedding in one of the wildest cities in the United States. A destination wedding in Las Vegas won’t disappoint.

Las Vegas is taking the lead in green development by planning the largest privately financed development in the history of North America vying for the USGBC’s LEED certification. At 18 million square feet, the new sustainable spot on the strip called CityCenter boasts a square footage that is bigger than all current LEED certified buildings combined. Currently under construction between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts, the center’s first building, Aria, is scheduled to open at the end of 2009. An $8 billion venture between MGM MIRAGE and Dubai World, CityCenter is bringing sustainability to the forefront, rightfully earning the tag of one of the world’s largest environmentally sustainable urban communities.

The sustainable buzz around CityCenter starts with the team. At the core of the design are some of our favorite green-minded architects including Pelli Clarke Pelli, Foster + Partners, and Rafael Vinoly. The developers have also employed hundreds of sustainability consultants to bring a whole systems approach to the project, and the tradesmen carrying out construction are educated in green building practice. MGM MIRAGE has trained over 10,000 construction trade and craftsmen on green building techniques that are already being forged into the site.

CityCenter is making some pretty big efforts to tout itself as a model of sustainability. Green building practices like recycling construction waste, using eco-friendly materials, boosting natural lighting, and incorporating an onsite co-generation power plant are just a few of the ways that the project is earning its eco-credentials. Materials from the imploded Boardwalk Hotel (cleared for the site of CityCenter) are being recycled into the project, crushed to be recycled into material going into the project, and bathroom fixtures are being shipped to other countries wrapped in the old drapes and carpeting from the original hotel to be used again.

Additional efforts were undertaken to improve even the smallest details. Unhappy with the current designs of low flow water fixtures, MGM MIRAGE used their purchasing power to design custom low-flow features to high design standards. The sustainable step will save an estimated 76 million gallons of water daily when CityCenter is completed and occupied.

The finished CityCenter will include a resort casino, two non-gaming resort hotels, a 500,000 square foot retail and entertainment district and will also feature a $40 million public fine art program.

lasvegas.jpgThe Apple stores just keep popping up, but this one is a particular head turner, mostly because the store in question would be, if the rumors prove true, a two story, 20,000 square foot anchor store at the lavish Las Vegas Mirage MGM CityCenter resort.

According to AppleInsider, people familiar with the massive development 76 acres south of the Bellagio hotel are saying that Apple has been selected to anchor the CityCenter’s most valuable and prominently positioned retail space, right on Las Vegas boulevard. Bling bling, baby!

The retail and public area of the development is fittingly referred to as The Crystals. It was co-designed by Studio Daniel Libeskind and Adamson Associates Architects. According to the Libeskind Web site, the retail spaces will be housed, “within crystalline, metal-clad shapes” right along the Strip. “A dramatic entryway into the retail area from the Strip will draw pedestrians into the public arcade, covered by an expressive, spiraling roof structure.” In other words, it will look sick.

So when you win big in Vegas, like everybody always, always does, you’ll soon be able to kick off your Apple spending spree without hesitation. I’d start with the fully loaded Mac Pro with two 30 inch monitors, then work my way up from there.

spa

Boasting the best spa in Las Vegas is a race as competitive as having the best restaurant or casino. Spas attract lots of guests, and gambling men know that having a good spa for their significant other will make their gambling experience that much more enjoyable.

The spa that gets the best ratings time after time is the Spa Bellagio at the Bellagio Vegas. It has 55,000 square feet of spa with 54 treatments rooms. The signature treatment is the “watsu”.

Canyon Ranch SpaClub at the Venetian is another top spa. You can get a healthy meal by Emeril Lagasse and climb the 40-foot rock-climbing wall. There’s a shopping area with canals and gondolas.

The Four Seasons Hotel is on the upper floors of the Mandalay Bay building. It has a steam room and 16 treatment rooms. The JAMU is the signature treatment, which combines Hindu, Chinese and European massage techniques.

The Bellagio is quite posh I should say, especially because it is very similar to the original in Las Vegas that I have very fond memories of…that is if you define “fond” as dancing on the tables in the VIP area of The Bank and being drunk on champagne. Alas…I miss having a paycheck and not being a slave to legal casebooks. But I digress. (As usual!)

The Bellagio Las-Vegas recently hosted the Knockout Fashion show with the Mondavia Modeling Agency and featured designers such as Liberte Fashion, Chez Nicole, and Persona. For those who missed the show, there is still an opportunity to snag a swag bag full of these designers’ truly lovely things by stopping by the lobby.

This dress by Liberte is so stunning that the best photographer in SL couldn’t capture how beautifully it moves, but I did my best in the Bellagio’s gardens with my 6 year old PC and dying graphics card. My eyeballs almost rolled right out of my head when I saw the intricate detailing on both the prim skirt and the system skirt. I have never seen a system skirt like this, and I hope that those of you who pick up the swag bag can hit “rebake textures” enough times to get it to rezz, because baby…it’s worth it. The swag bag will be left out through this weekend.

The stunning blue eyes are a gift within the swag bag from Persona, and I consider myself quite the eyeball snob to be able to tell you that. Wow, that sounds weird, lol. The shoes are also an included gift (in 3 colors!) from Chez Gabrielle.

The earrings were a group gift from Trixie’s Treasures but are also available in-store. Be sure to hit the subscription sign’s green button so you don’t miss out on any more delicious jewelry. The “Tuli” hair is available from House of Heart for $195 and Tuli’s tanned “Emily” skin in Sultry is new on the shelves and one I can’t seem to take off (also not free).

I also stopped by a store called Elemiah Design today that had this fun tube dress for free. The designer happened to be in and she couldn’t be nicer. There are really pretty dresses in her shop (there’s one I have my eye on that just came out!) and it’s definitely worth a visit. The skin is a recent Rosemar gift that Olivia just blogged.

And I know a lot of you are aware of “The Wrath of Adaire” (I hear it deserves capital letters, lol) and the recent slew of rudeness directed towards designers offering freebies. It is a real shame that people cannot be decent about receiving a gift, and again, this is pixelated clothing, not emergency rations after your plane crash landed. Would you imperiously demand that your mother-in-law hand over her Christmas present to you early? I thought not. Let’s just all be decent, and encourage decency in others if you see someone acting a fool in a store offering a gift. Thank you so, so much for the many, many IMs of support and expressions of outrage at this behavior. Most of you rock. ;)

Enjoi.

It`s a show of water, music and light. All for your amusement, the most ambitious, choreographically complex water feature ever conceived amazes against the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas’ lavender sky.

A couple years ago, two mad-scientist types known as Eepy Bird became an internet sensation by dropping more than 500 Mentos mints into 200 liters of Diet Coke with explosive results. Thanks to a scientific force called nucleation and some careful manipulation, the cola shot in the air like a geyser and danced around in ways resembling the world famous Fountains at Bellagio

Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas

The Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas is an absolutely amazing resort, with wonderful restaurants, exclusive shops, a vast, beautiful pool area, and, of course, its world famous fountains.

Situated on the South Las Vegas Strip directly across from Paris Las Vegas, Bellagio occupies one of the best locations of all Vegas casinos.

Bellagio ushered in a new era of ultra-luxury in Vegas, and, while it’s levels of service and quality have since been matched by such properties as Wynn Las Vegas and the Venetian, this amazing property has yet to be topped.

From the hand-laid mosaic tile floor in the lobby to the beautiful botanical garden to the golf course and its fine art gallery, Bellagio manages a level of luxury and uniqueness that really sets it apart from other casinos.

Bellagio Las Vegas Fountain

The in-house wedding chapels are beautiful (if quite a long walk from the main hotel along what seems like half a mile of hallways!) and the meeting facilities are top-notch.

Rooms at the Bellagio never come cheap, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend staying at this hotel, which has received an incredibly rare five-diamond rating from the AAA.

Gary’s in Vegas for a couple of days on a business trip, and it’s forcing me to reflect on my experiences in the city that never sleeps. In the beginning, I was fond of Vegas. It’s an exciting city with mega hotels, great restaurants, first-class shows and shopping. There’s so much to see and do. It’s easy to understand the attraction.

The problem is that while I was working in PR, I traveled to Vegas frequently — way too frequently. In fact, it felt like I was out there every other month for a few years. The old saying that “familiarity breeds contempt” holds true. I got so sick of Vegas that I still dread going there today.

However, for those of you who haven’t been there so many times that you’ve lost count, there are some fun things to see and do. With that in mind, here are my top 5 things to do in Vegas:

  1. Cirque du Soliel. It doesn’t matter which show you watch, they are all fabulous and well worth the high price tag. The only one you may want to steer away from is the adult show (Zumanity) at the New York, New York resort and casino.
  2. Blue Man Group. I was not a fan of the Blue Man Group until I got free tickets to their show in Vegas. After that, my opinion changed. It was one of the most entertaining shows I’ve seen in Vegas. I took Gary the last time we were there together, and I will probably go back in the future.
  3. The Bellagio. The Bellagio is a fabulous resort and casino. If you want to watch the fountain show, you can cross the street and eat dinner outside at the Paris hotel while you’re having dinner. It doesn’t sound that appealing, but trust me, it’s a cool show. You can also get a great view of the show from inside the Bellagio. The Fontana lounge has a balcony overlooking the “lake”. They usually have decent bands playing in the lounge also. It’s a good place to hang out with friends. I like the casino at the Bellagio too. It’s more classy than many of the resorts on the strip.
  4. Caesars Palace. What’s a trip to Vegas without a romp through Caesar’s Palace? They have some of the best shops (the Roman Forum) and restaurants (Spago). The pool area is amazing also. If you happen to stay at Vegas, it’s fun to check out the older rooms. Unlike the new towers, these rooms give you the feel of the Vegas of old. They have round beds with mirrors above. There’s also a round spa tub in the middle of the room so you can watch tv while you’re relaxing in the tub (not that I’ve ever done that).
  5. New York, New York Roller Coaster. Okay, I’m not a huge fan of roller coasters, so I haven’t gone to the Stratosphere. If you really love amusement rides, go there instead. If you just want to have a fun little ride, then go to the New York.

There are so many things to do in Vegas that it’s tough to narrow it down to only five areas. I have a long list of other recommendations I could make, but then it wouldn’t be a “Top 5″ blog. So, if you want more suggestions, send me a note.

I’d be happy to provide hotel, dinner and other entertainment recommendations if you’re planning a trip in the future.

While on holiday in Vegas, we stopped by the gorgeous Bellagio Hotel. Filled with freshly cut orchids, and covered with gorgeous mosaic tiling, this place was decadence to behold. In the lobby one can look up to larger-then-life hand blown glass flowers by Dale Chihuly.

And of course, a true world-class resort is not complete without its own World Pastry Champion. Stop by and see the work of Chef Jean-Philppe Maury. Be dazzeled by the floor-to-ceiling glass chocolate fountain, or the beautifully crafted chocolates, pastries, cakes and crepes. My personal favorite was the elegant strawberry tart: bright, fresh berries sliced atop a thin, swirly macaroon and light vanilla cream. Yum!

This Chocolate Lady weighs in at 120 pounds!

…and after a delicious pastry, why not stay to see the famous Bellagio fountains out front?

Bellagio Hotel is a 3400+ room AAA Five Diamond award winning hotel and casino resort located on the famous Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. The resort opened on October 15, 1998. The design of Bellagio was inspired by the Lake Como resort of Bellagio in Italy and features an eight-acre lake located between the hotel and the strip. Bellagio is one of the most dramatic and awe-inspiring resorts on the Las Vegas strip.

Bellagio was built with true European architecture and interior design. This magnificent hotel has upscale luxurious rooms, shopping and top of the line gourmet restaurants throughout the property. The glass ceilings in this casino provide natural lighting, which separates it from all the other casinos

The grounds are lovely too and the 18 acre artificial lake at the front of the hotel is the venue for the much loved Fountains of Bellagio display of music and lights. The musical extravaganza is repeated thoughtout the day and features a variety of music, including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Aaron Copland and Handel. The natural world is also on show at the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, which has free admission and the gardens are open 24 hours a day.

The Bellagio Hotel lobby alone is a show in itself. Over 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers, each perfectly each hand-crafted, cover the ceiling. In addition multi-colored works of art, called The Fiori di Como, add to the atmosphere

The Spa and Salon offers a range of treatments for guests of the Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas, including facials, yoga and water massages. There are also fitness equipment and weight machines for a good workout. A personal instructor is on hand to give advice.

The poker room attracts professional poker players, who take advantage of the high table limits. The venue has hosted the World Poker Tour tournaments. It is rare for a Las Vegas hotel to have a permanent show but the Cirque du Soleil’s production of ‘O’ is outstanding. It’s an aquatic show, featuring synchronized swimmers, divers and acrobats. It’s a combination of street theater, folklore traditions, martial arts and circus fire stunts.

LA Times about what they’re doing with chocolate in places like Caesar’s Palace, Ethel M, etc.

Chocolate from Vintner Grill

Here’s an excerpt:

—–

Take Jean-Philippe Patisserie at the Bellagio Hotel Vegas. Jean-Philippe Maury, the pastry-chef-turned-chocolatier, has been with Bellagio since it opened in 1998 but not before garnering awards for his confections in France and working at Payard Patisserie in New York.

Today his namesake cafe pops as many eyes as the adjacent conservatory garden designs. A 27-foot floor-to-ceiling fountain of chocolate pours three types of creamy elixir at 120 quarts per minute through 25 suspended glass vessels. Move over, Roald Dahl.

If you like your crepes sweetened with Nutella and whipped cream, this is the place. The counter can sell up to 450 pastries on a particularly indulgent day. Imperials are popular — chocolate mousse, vanilla crème brûlée and crispy nuts — as is white chocolate cheesecake.”

Bellagio Hotel Vegas is home to the fabulous and famous Cirque du Soleil show “O”. And this is just the start of your Las Vegas vacation fun as the Bellagio Hotel has so much more to offer. The style of this luxury hotel is taken from the theme of a Roman extravaganza. It sits at the edge of a 10-acre man-made lake which provides you with a host of activities. There are also some 20 restaurants and cafes on site, a 65,000 square foot spa and salon and a numerous other attractions

The hotel was featured in the movies, Oceans Eleven and Oceans Thirteen, which featured George Clooney and Brad Pitt as part of a gang intent on robbing casinos. A fictional vault of the Bellagio Hotel Las Vegas was indeed robbed in the story! The hotel was opened in 1998 and cost a staggering $1.6 billion to build. The interior is luxuriously furnished with fountains and the lobby ceiling is decorated with colorful hand blown glass flowers.

If you are looking for a show to see while in Las Vegas, Bellagio is home to a Cirque du Soleil show simply called O. In Italian, O means water and that is what this show is all about with 85 acrobats and swimmers performing in and above a 1.5 million gallon pool of water.

We couldn’t help but notice in this awestruck, first-person story in the Las Vegas Sun about MGM Mirage’s new CityCenter project this little line: “Overlooking the convoluted-looking roadways feeding the rear of the property is a ribbon of suspended concrete for a monorail that will link CityCenter with Bellagio Hotel Vegas to the north and the Monte Carlo to the south.”

A monorail, you say?  Well, how about that?

See, one of the long-term plans for the Las Vegas Monorail was to travel to the west side of the Strip, which was ignored by the casino barons who built the original line to shuttle tourists to some of their lesser-visited hotels. But, along with extending the monorail to McCarran International Airport, going to the west side of the Strip was always a gleam in the Las Vegas Monorail’s eye.

But it seems that MGM Mirage isn’t waiting for that. By connecting the Monte Carlo, CityCenter and Bellagio with a monorail, the need for a second train is moot. (That’s especially true, given the people mover that has been successfully ferrying guests between the Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur for years; and the link between Treasure Island and the Mirage. Why, the company nearly has linked up the entire west side of the Strip single-handedly!)

Not to worry: Las Vegas Monorail plotters are continuing to push for a link to the airport, which they see as the road to success. Because linking the airport to the back door of several Strip properties can’t possibly continue to lose money hand over fist, the way the monorail has every single day it’s been in existence, right?
